Annual Meeting held Fri., Oct. 14, 2011

Friday, October 14, was the date for Wiregrass Electric Cooperative's 2011 Annual Meeting in Hartford.   The traditional Saturday meeting was moved to Friday last year because a majority of participating members took advantage of mail balloting and did not actually attend the business meeting.  The business meeting began at 10:30 a.m. for those members who wished to attend.  Click here for a copy of the 2011 Annual Report

In the three Board of Trustees positions under consideration for election this year (Districts 3, 6 and 9), no one other than the current Trustees filed a petition seeking election to the Board.  Wiregrass Electric Cooperative met all notification requirements by informing members of the nominating procedures and deadlines.

Specifically, members were informed and reminded that the cooperative’s bylaws require a person seeking a position on the Board of Trustees to submit a petition containing the signatures of at least 15 members of the cooperative who reside in their district. Such petitions must be presented to the cooperative’s CEO no later than 60 days prior to the Annual Meeting. As of that deadline this year, only the three individuals who currently hold these seats had presented such a petition.

In accordance with Article IV, Section 3 of the cooperative’s bylaws, these three Trustees were be deemed elected as Trustees for their respective districts at the close of the Annual Meeting.

Because the only reason to attend in person was come hear the reports given during the business meeting, registration only took place at the Hartford office on Friday, Oct. 14.  The business meeting was conducted in the auditorium of our corporate headquarters beginning at 10:30 a.m.

However, members were encouraged to sign and mail their registration card to be eligible for valuable prizes  given away -- including $500 CASH.  Members did NOT have to be present to win, and all prize winners have been notified by mail.  A list of prize winners and vendor donors is at the bottom of this page.

All three current Trustees were re-elected by acclamation at the Annual Meeting.
