NRECA Mini-Grant Program

The National Rural Electric Cooperative Association (NRECA) is the national service organization dedicated to representing the national interests of electric cooperative utilities (like Wiregrass Electric Cooperative) and the member-consumers they serve.  It believes that youth are the future, and impacting the lives of the youth of today is extremely important to the cooperative community.

By helping to educate students and enhance their self-worth, NRECA hopes to ensure a stronger future for everyone. The Mini-Grant Program is completed through the National Rural Education Association (NREA).

Each year, NRECA sponsors ten mini grants. Any rural K-12 classroom teacher whose school or community is served by a local Rural Electric Cooperative, or whose students’ homes are served by a local Rural Electric Cooperative, is eligible to apply for a mini-grant.

The NREA and its affiliates offer several annual awards to honor the many teachers and administrators of the nation’s rural schools that significantly contribute to education in rural schools.

Educators are encouraged to submit an application to apply for or make a nomination for any of these awards.
