Right of Way Program
Wiregrass Electric trims and sprays trees and brush around power lines to improve reliability by reducing trees and brush that could fall on electric lines and interrupt electric service. Routine clearing activities are on a 6-year rotating clearing cycle.
Trimming requests submitted are investigated and work is done if the department feels it is warranted. Trees causing power interruptions will be trimmed before any other tree trimming work is performed. Trees determined not to be an immediate threat to electrical power distribution or public safety will not be trimmed until time for the scheduled routine maintenance. Brush and debris due to storms or power outages will not be cleaned up and dead brush from herbicide application will not be cut down or cleaned up.
