PrePay

INcontrol is a Prepay Power Program from Wiregrass Electric Cooperative (WEC), an innovative method of providing electricity on demand to consumers. WEC began offering this service to its member-owners in January 2012. INcontrol offers WEC members an opportunity to pay in advance for their electricity while offering real-time energy usage information to assist members who wish to conserve energy. Every smart-meter is equipped to function as a prepaid meter.

Any member of WEC may elect to pre-pay their electricity through the Cooperative’s INcontrol program by paying an initial non-refundable setup fee of $25 per meter. If the member owes the Cooperative a past due bill for any reason, they must have a zero balance or set up a debit-payment agreement on their account(s) before participating.

Security deposits for the pre-pay program will be waived while the member is a satisfactory participant in the program. If a member, either by choice or by the Cooperative’s choice, no longer participates in the pre-pay program, the standard policy governing security deposits will be followed. If an existing member elects to participate in the pre-pay program, any security deposit that member has on record may be applied to future bills in the form of a credit until all security deposits for that member’s account(s) have been reduced to zero. If however, the member withdraws from the pre-pay program, the last deposit of record for that member’s account(s) will be secured before electric service can continue or be re-established.

WEC will require an accurate cell phone number or email address in order for the Cooperative to provide updates to members about account balances and other energy use information. Members may also check their account balance on WECs online portal.

Payments for the pre-pay program may be made through all payment options currently offered by the Cooperative (phone, online, in person at office). There is a minimum transaction amount of $25 required.

If the member has a yard light on the property, WEC will prorate all yard light fees utilizing billing software.

WEC will continue to accept vouchers from charitable agencies for pre-pay accounts; however, a voucher will not be accepted as immediate payment or in place of payment. The account must continue to have sufficient funds to provide electric service until voucher is paid. A voucher will not prevent disconnection on an account or be used as payment to have an account reconnected.
