Terms and Conditions
The Wiregrass Electric Cooperative, Inc. (“WEC”) Load Control/Water Heater Program was created to control wholesale power demand costs, which, when reduced, benefits members through decreased wholesale power costs and decreased need for additional generation. The undersigned member consents and agrees to the terms and conditions of this contract.
- 1. Member/contractor agrees to participate in WEC’s Load Control/Water Heater Program and allow installation of load control device. Residence where water heater is to be installed must be a permanent residence and receiving energy from WEC.
- 2. Participation in this program shall be at no additional cost to member. Credit on purchased water heater is dependent on installation of load control and will be made as credit on electric account within 45 days of installation of load control device. Member/contractor agrees to install water heater within two weeks and have load device installed within 45 days of pickup or purchase, and water heater must remain where installed. Failure to have water heater and load control device installed within the 45-day period will result in the cost of the water heater being added to the member’s electric account.
- 3. WEC agrees to furnish an energy-efficient electric water heater or credit on account up to $475 of purchased water heater to member/contractor. (Pick up at Hartford warehouse location only.)
- 4. Member/contractor understands and agrees that WEC will control the times at which member’s water heater(s) will turn on and off in order to better manage its demand cost. WEC agrees to use its best efforts to manage this load control equipment in such way as to cause minimal or no inconvenience to member.
- 5. Member agrees to participate in the program as long as water heater is installed. (Member/Contractor agrees to inform new homeowner at time of sale of this agreement. If member refuses load control, member/contractor will be billed for total cost of water heater.)
- 6. WEC agrees to have a licensed electrician install its load control equipment on member’s water heater(s) at no cost to member. If member refuses installation or is not at location at time of scheduled installation, member agrees to pay a trip-charge fee of $75. Member’s failure to honor this agreement, including failure to honor appointment for installation of equipment, may result in early termination fees and installation charges.
