Wiregrass Electric Cooperative’s Annual Meeting packets have been mailed, and many of our members have already received theirs.
Due to an issue with the member mail file, some members may have received an Annual Meeting packet at their correct mailing address but with another member’s name and information on the registration card.
If you received a packet that does not have your name and account number, a packet with your correct information is already on its way. We understand you may have questions, so we’ve provided some answers below.
Q: Will someone be able to vote twice because of this error?
A: No. Only ballots submitted with valid registration information will be counted. Ballots are handled and verified by an independent third-party auditor to ensure the integrity of the voting process.
Q: How do I know if I received the correct packet?
A: Check the registration card included in your packet. Your name, mailing address and member number should correspond with your Wiregrass Electric account.
Q: Can I go ahead and open the packet I received?
A: Yes! We encourage you to open the packet and review the Annual Report, Notice of Annual Meeting, candidate bios and other information included. However, please do not complete or mail the registration card or ballot from an incorrectly addressed packet. Please wait until your corrected packet arrives and use the registration card and ballot included in that packet.
Q: Do I need to call Wiregrass Electric to request another packet?
A: No. A corrected Annual Meeting packet is already being mailed to affected members.
Q: If I already received my correct packet, do I need to do anything differently?
A: No. If the information on your registration card is correct, simply follow the instructions included in your packet to participate in Annual Meeting voting.
Q: Does this affect my Wiregrass Electric account or billing?
A: No. This was an issue involving the Annual Meeting packet mailing and does not affect your electric service or account billing.
Q: What if I’m still unsure whether my packet is correct?
A: Please give us a call. Our team will be happy to help verify your information and answer any questions.
We apologize for any confusion this mailing error may have caused and appreciate your patience and understanding. Most importantly, we want our members to know that safeguards are in place to protect the integrity of the Annual Meeting voting process.
