Today we were honored to participate in the third annual Southeast Worlds of Work at the National Peanut Festival Grounds in Dothan. Thousands of 8th-grade students from Alabama, Georgia and Florida were given a firsthand look at high demand, high wage career opportunities available in the region. WEC’s Johnny Hudson, Joey Brown, Marritt Dorriety, Mark Dillard, Mitchie Bass, Ryan Tate, Tammie Byrd and Jennifer Ward were all there to give the students a glimpse into how they do their job and how they do it safely.

Prior to the event, we attended the Leadership Breakfast where State Rep. Donnie Chesteen was presented with the Powell Brewton Leadership Award for the wonderful work he has done for career tech in the Wiregrass. We also enjoyed getting to hear the keynote speaker Alabama Secretary of State John H. Merrill.

This is such a great program that helps open student’s eyes to the many career opportunities available in the Wiregrass. We are proud to be a part of it!

WEC set up our display this morning in preparation for the 2018 Southeast Worlds of Work that is scheduled to take place tomorrow and Thursday of this week. We are excited to give 8th graders from Alabama, Georgia, and Florida a glimpse into the World of Utilities. We are a proud supporter of this wonderful program! #SEWOW18 #WEC ... See MoreSee Less
