UPDATE: We still have 596 members without power but our crews are working as quickly and safely as possible to make repairs. We appreciate your patience!

UPDATE: Our crews are on the scene and are making repairs. The pole has a broken cross arm and will need to be climbed so repairs can be made. There also is a large wire down in a wet area so the crews are making sure they work safely while making these repairs. We apologize for this inconvenience and we appreciate your patience!

Thank you for the update. We really appreciate everyone working to restore our power.

Thank you to all linemen out restoring power this late! Such a dangerous job! Stay safe!

This morning, WEC had the privilege to surprise Vickie Cochran at Webb Elementary School as the new teacher of the month presented by WEC and 95.5 WTVY. Cochran teaches second grade and has been teaching for almost 30 years with 24 of those in Houston County. She has gone above and beyond to help care for her students and loves helping her students find a passion for reading.
WEC is proud to partner with 95.5 to recognize the teacher of the month. White received a gift card to Outback Steakhouse and a Hungry Howie’s pizza party for her students. WEC will also be donating school supplies for her classroom. As your trusted and preferred energy provider, WEC is working to make the Wiregrass better for tomorrow!
If you know a teacher in the Wiregrass who is worthy of being named teacher of the month, visit 955wtvy.com to nominate them.

Last Sunday, 13 Wiregrass Electric linemen left for North Carolina to assist in relief efforts following Hurricane Florence. All of those linemen returned home safely last night. During their dispatch, WEC member care representative Sandra Brannon (WEC Customer Support) received this phone call.

The linemen can be seen in the last image of this video, pictured from left to right, back to front: Jeff Harper, Bobby Shelley, Parker Deese, Johnny Hudson, Britt Caldwell, Allen Langford, Mark Dillard, Billy Tingle, Mark Croom, Clay Richardson, Marritt Dorriety, Eddie Oviedo, and Mitchie Bass.

Our cooperative is indescribably proud of the work our linemen do both here at home and away, and this phone call is proof that others do as well.

Thank you for everything this crew endured to get up here. Matthew flooded us two years ago. We were prepared to be without for a while. I have a 12 year old, a 7 year old and the twins turned 11 months on the 15. Crews were deployed to us from all over but the truck that pulled up to restore us was Wiregrass. My son rode his skateboard down to ask them if they needed water because that’s all I had to offer but I think he got nervous and shy and just came home without asking. I sound ridiculous and I’m still emotional but you guys deserve the recognition and appreciation for not only attempting to get here, but for actually getting here safely, being hundreds of miles from home, getting the job done, and going home to your families. I appreciate y’all, thank you!!!

You guys are awesome and we are so thankful everyone returned home safely. Sandra Brannon what an awesome job holding it together with the emotions from the caller. I am in tears 😢 Love working with my WEC family!!! ❤️❤️

WEC is one of the finest examples of Electric Cooperatives and the values they hold dear. Love our WEC employees and the families that allow them to take care of us all!

You guys are awesome!! I couldn't imagine being 7 days without power and having 11 month old twins!!!

Thank you for taking the time in the midst of your crisis to call and thank these lineman!!

Thank you. So thankful you all returned safely.

What a wonderful crew! This call is a wonderful testimony. Praying for the families affected by Florence and all the rain that followed.

Thanks for all you did! You represented us well!!

Awesome crew!!!
