Due to Hurricane Michael, we had to postpone our weekly Lineman of the Week partnership with WOOF FM. However, we will pick back up again this week. Please give a shout out to our Lineman of the Week from a few weeks ago! Congratulations to Providence Christian School’s Hayden Parker who was selected as the Lineman of the Week presented by “The Ball” WOOF Radio and Wiregrass Electric Cooperative. Parker is a Senior football player for head coach Kenny Keith. The Lineman of the Week will be presented every Friday morning this year during football season. So, listen to AM 560 “The Ball” every Friday morning this season at 7:10 AM to hear who the Lineman of the Week is! Congratulations Hayden! #LinemanOfTheWeek 🏈 ... See MoreSee Less

UPDATE: This afternoon our cooperative ended its emergency restoration efforts. We began this journey more than a week ago with 18,000 outages and today we have no outage cases. We have so many people to thank for helping with this massive restoration effort. Our employees, from the linemen to our support staff, did an amazing job. All of them were working 17-hour days and most of them didn’t have power at their homes. We could never thank our sister cooperatives and contract crews from around the state enough for the help they provided. We had 225 workers help us get power restored and we could not have done it so quickly without them. To everyone in the community that supported this effort, we are grateful. Our cooperative was well taken care of this week, from food for our employees to doing laundry for our linemen. Thank you!

We also want to thank our members. We are so grateful for the patience each of you had. The kind words and prayers we received kept all of our spirits up so we could work the long hours we did. Our members are the reason for everything we do and we are so happy that all of our members now have power.

WEC also wants to remind everyone who cannot receive service because of repairs the member must make to please stay in touch with the cooperative. Once the repairs are made, please call the cooperative at 800-239-4602 and let WEC know you are ready to be restored.

Earlier this afternoon, we concluded Wiregrass Electric's Annual Meeting. Our new Board President is Donna Parrish. Tracy Reeder is Vice President and Debra Baxley is Secretary. We'd like to thank all members who participated either in person or by mail. Unfortunately, this year's Annual Meeting was in an abbreviated form due to the past week's restoration efforts in the aftermath of Hurricane Michael. But, the Annual Meeting is a time to celebrate our cooperative and its principles. The patience of our members over the last week, and the willing spirit of our linemen as well as others from across the south, are a wonderful example of that.

VOTE TOTALS
District 2
Donna Parrish - 1118
Glenn Maloy - 351

District 5
Tracy Reeder - 1256

District 8
Greg McCullough - 958
Hamp Day - 487
