WEC linemen Johnny Hudson and Allen Langford presented the Education Power Station to students at Houston Academy this morning. The students were able to try on lineman equipment that keep our linemen working safely and also learn about how power lines work. WEC had a great time at Houston Academy and we loved the thank you cards we received from the students!

WEC linemen Britt Caldwell and Johnny Hudson had our Education Power Station on display this morning at Coppinville Junior High School’s Career Exploration Day. Students were able try on some of the gear that linemen use to help them work safely and were also given demonstrations on some of things linemen do each day.

Last week, our Montgomery Youth Tour delegates enjoyed a once in a lifetime opportunity to visit our state capitol, meet state officials, learn about our state’s history and meet other students from around the state. The Youth Tour is a wonderful program and we are proud to participate. Check out this video to see some of the great activities our students got to participate in. These students are some of the best in our area and the Youth Tour program helps shape them into our future leaders. youtu.be/kkHFgzgkyJIyoutube.com ... See MoreSee Less

Today we honored our 2019 Montgomery Youth Tour delegates at our Youth Tour Banquet in Hartford. We also selected our 2019 Washington D.C Youth Tour delegates. This year’s Washington delegates will be Claire Aplin of Ashford High School and Victoria Zinn of Samson High School. Wicksburg High School’s Gavin Gomez will be the first alternate.

Congratulations to Claire and Victoria! We know they will represent our cooperative and Wiregrass area well.

We also would like to congratulate all of our Youth Tour delegates. They all did a fantastic job representing our cooperative in Montgomery and we are proud of each of them. The Youth Tour is a great program that helps our future generation learn about electric cooperatives and their role in our state and nation’s history. We are proud to participate and look forward to it each year!
