WEC’s Operation Round Up Charitable Foundation was pleased to present a $12,500 check today to the Dothan Houston County Library System to help pay for renovations to the Ashford library. We were more than happy to be able to help them with this project in order to continue improving the communities that we serve. As always, this would not be possible without our wonderful members whose charitable contributions are what make things like this possible. We are blessed to live in a wonderful area with wonderful people! #OperationRoundup ... See MoreSee Less

Yay! My boys LOVE the Ashford Library!

Thanks WEC for supporting our library.

This is awesome! Jen Johnson may want to take boys by there.

Friday afternoon the Slocomb Police Department installed a new security camera at the recreation park. This camera will help the Slocomb police monitor the park at all times and help keep the people of Slocomb safe. The camera was made possible through a $5,000 donation that was made last spring through our Operation Round Up Charitable Foundation. The foundation is a great way to help organizations like our local police departments who are doing so many great things in the community. These types of donations would not be possible without our wonderful members who have agreed to have their monthly bills rounded up to the nearest dollar. Thursday WEC’s Chief Operating Officer Brad Kimbro and Manager of Field Services Stevie Sauls along with our partners Troy Cable CEO Jake Cowen and WordSouth President and CEO Stephen Smith attended the E-Connectivity Listening Session at Lawson State Community College in Birmingham. The session was a great opportunity for much-needed conversation about connecting Alabama’s rural communities to high-speed broadband internet. Cowen, who is our partner in bringing fiber internet to our WEC members, took part in a panel that discussed the challenges and opportunities to connecting our region.
At WEC, our goal is to connect all of our members to a high-speed internet connection and to continue standing in the gap for rural America. This session was a perfect opportunity for us to continue that process!

NOMINATE A TEACHER TODAY! Our schools are the backbone of the Wiregrass, and the teachers in those schools are the driving force. Our local teachers do so much for our young people and don’t always get the credit they deserve. That’s why last spring we partnered with 95.5 WTVY to present a Teacher of the Month award to four local teachers who are going above and beyond to help their students.
We will start this program again this school year, so If you know a deserving teacher visit 955wtvy.com to nominate them.
