After 26 years, our valued energy control operator, Tammie Byrd, embarks on a well-deserved retirement.
Throughout her tenure, Tammie has been a linchpin in our operations, skillfully monitoring the grid's performance and coordinating rapid responses during critical moments. An adept communicator, she played a significant role in getting your power restored during unexpected outages and following major storms.
Earlier, the WEC family congregated — current team members and a handful of retirees — to share food, fellowship and well wishes. On her last working day, a special tribute unfolded — our linemen and several team members dialed into her dispatch number, "440", via the two-way radio system to bid her a warm and personal farewell, a gesture reflecting Tammie’s importance not only to our operations but to the people who knew her well.
