WEC’s 2020 Annual Meeting Nears

Wiregrass Electric Cooperative’s (WECs) 2020 annual meeting will occur on October 16 at noon at the Hartford headquarters. WEC officials want to remind members of a few important details ahead of the event.

Virtual Presence

In order to protect members, WEC employees, and the WEC board of trustees, the 2020 meeting will be conducted virtually. Monitor our website at wiregrass.coop and our social media channels for live stream information as the meeting approaches.

Participation

Members can still participate in the meeting in a couple of ways.

Officials highly encourage members to mail in their registration cards and ballots ahead of the meeting. The cards and ballots are located in the annual meeting packets mailed to members in September. The cooperative must receive the cards and ballots by Oct. 14 in order for them to be processed and counted.

Members can also register and vote on-site on the day of the meeting, but the usual festivities that surround the meeting have been canceled. Registration lasts from 10 to 11:30 a.m. on the day of the meeting.

Important Vote

In addition to electing trustees for Districts 3, 6, and 9, WEC members will have a chance to vote on a proposed bylaw change this year. The change, if approved, allows WEC to disburse any accrued patronage capital (capital credits) to members who are encountering hardships. WEC will make these disbursements at its discretion.

Big Rewards

Each member who registers will receive a $5 bill credit and will also be entered into a drawing for much larger prizes.

Two members will receive a $500 bill credit, and another two will earn a $250 credit. Ten others will receive a $100 credit, while another 10 will receive $50 credits.
