Partnership Connects WEC Members to Financial Services

Wiregrass Electric Cooperative (WEC) members have access to financial services when visiting offices in Dothan and Samson thanks to a partnership between WEC and Alabama ONE.

WEC offices in Dothan and Samson now house a full-service branch of Alabama ONE offering products such as checking and savings accounts, mortgages, land and agricultural loans, personal loans, auto loans, credit cards, insurance services, and financial wellness help. Drive-thru banking is available, and ATMs are expected to be operational in the first quarter of the year.

“We are thrilled to enter this partnership with Alabama ONE, which opens the door for our members to develop a relationship with a respected statewide credit union,” says Stevie Sauls, WEC vice president of member services and communication. “If they pay their electric bill at the Dothan or Samson offices, there is also the added convenience of having their financial institution on site.”

Services in the 2 offices are scheduled for soft opening this month.

The partnership with WEC is the first of its kind for Alabama ONE.

Alabama ONE Credit Union merged with Alabama Rural Electric Credit Union in 2020 to serve the 23 Alabama Rural Electric Cooperatives, their employees, and members across Alabama. Today, Alabama ONE is a $1-billion plus, full-service financial institution with 30 branches statewide, 10 of which are in close proximity to electric co-op payment centers.

There are now 58 Alabama counties served by the credit union.

In 2020, the Alabama Rural Electric Credit Union joined the Alabama ONE family, and services were opened to employees and members of electric cooperatives around the state. The credit union has continued to grow since then to become a statewide franchise.
