- Distribution Expense: The cost of maintaining and operating the electricity distribution system. This is a fixed monthly charge for all residential accounts.
- Residential Demand Charge: This charge reflects your household’s contribution to WEC’s highest electricity demand day during peak hours, from 6 to 9 a.m. in the coldest months. The rate is $2.50 per kilowatt, or kW.
- Basic Energy Charge: This figure reflects the total kilowatt-hours used multiplied by the rate per kWh. WEC lowered the base energy rate charged to members from $0.1113 per kWh to $0.0996 per kWh — a 10.5% reduction.
- Power Cost Adjustment: This variable item can either be a charge or a credit, reflecting changes in the cost to generate or purchase power.
- Alabama Utility Tax: A 9% tax is applied to the total electric bill, as per state regulations.
- Operation Round Up Foundation: An optional charitable program where members can round up their bills to the nearest dollar, with the extra money going to community projects and initiatives in the Wiregrass.
- Total Amount Due: This is the full amount you need to pay, including all charges, taxes, and optional programs.
