2025 Charitable Golf Tournament Sees Successful Year

About 140 golfers turned out for a warm and sunny day on the Highland Oaks Golf Course, playing for a good cause and helping raise approximately $50,000 for the Wiregrass Electric Cooperative’s charitable foundation.

Now in its fourth year, WEC’s Operation Round Up Charitable Golf Tournament raises money for the ORU Charitable Foundation, funded primarily by cooperative members who voluntarily round up their monthly bills to the next dollar. The golf tournament started in 2022 to supplement these foundation funds and has added around $200,000.

An appointed board of cooperative members oversees the ORU Charitable Foundation and invests these funds back into the community to support:

  • Scholarships for local students
  • Training and equipment for first responders
  • Classroom projects in local schools
  • Awards for WEC’s partnership with WTVY, Silent Heroes of the Wiregrass
  • After-school programs
  • And so much more!

If you missed this year’s golf tournament, there is always next year. Keep an eye out in the spring and early summer months for announcements about our 2026 ORU Charitable Golf Tournament.

Fore the Win!

35 teams of golfers played on three different courses at Highland Oaks and earned recognition and prizes for a variety of achievements, both individually and as teams. Six people split the Bucket Truck Ball Drop prize of $1,500.

Thank You!

We want to thank all those who joined us on September 4 for this year’s tournament, as well as everyone who helped but could not be there in person. Without your support and participation, we would not have a tournament. The success of this meaningful event is due to the dedication of our sponsors, vendors, WEC team members, Highland Oaks staff, and every golfer who participated. Together, we can help build a stronger Wiregrass.
