Dothan Sales Manager Celebrated for Longtime Service to Community

Faulk, center, receives a check from Stevie Sauls, left, WEC’s vice president of member services and communication, on behalf of Wiregrass Electric Cooperative’s Operation Round Up Foundation, and a certificate from WTVY’s Haydyn Livingston.

Doug Faulk cherishes behind-the-scenes work. As a sales manager for Brackin Paint Supply in Dothan and a key figure in local ministries and community activities, Faulk’s life extends far beyond the storefront.

Faulk has called the Wiregrass area home for 60 years, and he’s active in a variety local organizations and efforts. From youth-focused ministries to his long-standing involvement in school sports and community safety, Faulk makes an impact with every quiet step he takes to support his community.

"I believe strongly in giving back," Faulk says. “I would just rather help behind the scenes. There’s a lot more people needed in that capacity than there are people needed out front. There’s so much involved in making things happen — I enjoy being a part of that.”

For over 20 years, he’s volunteered with the sports programs at his alma mater, Dothan High School, and elsewhere.

“It means a lot to give back,” Faulk says, surrounded by a collection of baseball bats that adorn a wall inside the paint store. “It’s real cool to be there and still be a part of it.”

Faulk is an active member of Ridgecrest Baptist Church, teaching Sunday school, organizing men’s ministries and managing security, among his many roles. He’s also a longtime volunteer for WIRED ministries, which facilitates faith-based community service opportunities for youth across the Wiregrass area.

His commitment to service traces back to his parents and their grocery store, where he learned the importance of community involvement as a child. This spirit of giving is a family tradition, as his son, Chase, also dedicates his time to community service, serving on the board of Wired.

Recently honored as the latest recipient of the Silent Heroes of the Wiregrass award — a partnership between Wiregrass Electric Cooperative and WTVY — Faulk appreciates the recognition of his quiet dedication. "It’s special, and it just means a lot to me," Faulk says.

“We’re so thankful for people like Mr. Faulk, who give their time and expertise to make life better for the people in our community,” says Stevie Sauls, WEC’s vice president of member services and communication.

Faulk encourages everyone to become involved and contribute to their community in any way they can.

“You’re not too good to help,” Faulk says. “It’s not about how much money you’ve got. You can help the community and your churches and anything else.”
