Wiregrass Electric Cooperative (WEC) is a valued part of the community and a member-driven organization because of its hardworking and enthusiastic employees. The annual Employee Day luncheon is just one way WEC leaders express their gratitude for the talent, tenacity, and tireless effort of the staff.
This year, WEC had a special guest in locally renowned chef Hibachi Joe. Not only did he serve up his signature spread of fried rice, hibachi steak, chicken and shrimp, but he also shared his journey from war-torn Cambodia to this corner of sweet home Alabama.

“It’s our hope that hearing Joe’s story about his humble beginnings was inspiring and motivational,” Chief Operating Officer Brad Kimbro says. “Our staff is an enormous part of what makes Wiregrass Electric Cooperative a trusted, reliable electric utility and an important contributor to our member communities. Every year we spend a whole day celebrating their milestone accomplishments including those retiring. Their loyalty, hard work and dedication keep the co-op moving forward.”
