Operation Round Up (ORU) scholarship applications due April 9

You worked hard in school. Now let those efforts pay off with a scholarship from Wiregrass Electric Cooperative’s Operation Round Up Charitable Foundation.

The ORU board, which presents about 20 scholarships annually, is accepting applications through April 9 for the next set of awards.

The Board Offers Three Types of Scholarships

  • Traditional student scholarships. These are awarded to high school seniors who plan to attend an accredited two-year, four-year, vocational, technical, or other continuing education institution in Alabama.
  • Nontraditional student scholarships. This type of scholarship is for students who meet at least one of these criteria: They have delayed enrollment into postsecondary education, are financially independent for financial aid purposes, have dependents other than a spouse, or are single parents. Students must plan to attend an accredited institution in Alabama.
  • Wallace Community College Lineworker Program scholarships. These scholarships are awarded to students who want to enroll in WCC’s Pre-Apprentice Electrical Lineworker program and have demonstrated a financial need.
