Elite Under 40

WEC’s Dixon recognized among local young professionals

Leading Wiregrass Electric Cooperative’s accounting team, Vice President of Finance and Accounting Misti Dixon spends her days ensuring the cooperative’s financial resources are used wisely and honestly. It’s a role full of crucial responsibilities.

“It is a privilege to serve the members of Wiregrass Electric Cooperative and the communities we call home,” she says. “I take seriously the fiduciary responsibility that comes with stewarding our members’ resources, and I strive every day to honor the trust they place in us.”

Dixon was recently recognized by the Dothan Area Chamber of Commerce as a member of the 2026 Elite Under 40 Class, a distinction that honors outstanding young professionals who display an entrepreneurial spirit, personal integrity and community leadership.

“I am truly honored and humbled to be selected as one of the Dothan Area Chamber’s Elite Under 40 recipients,” Dixon says. “This recognition reflects the support and encouragement I’ve received from so many people throughout my career, and I’m incredibly grateful.”

Dixon is among 15 honorees for 2026. A reception was held in August to recognize those selected.

Elite Under 40 was first established in 2018 — originally called 20 Under 40 — to recognize the contributions of young business leaders. Honorees are selected through a process that includes a nomination as well as reference letters from employers and a nonprofit organization the nominee is involved in. A committee made up of chamber board members and community leaders makes the final selections.

Dixon joined Wiregrass Electric Cooperative in 2014 as an accountant. Beyond her work life at WEC, Dixon is also a children’s book author, drawing from her career in the electric utility industry to write 10 children’s books introducing young readers to skilled trades and technical careers. She also volunteers her time, speaking with elementary students about pursuing their dreams and working hard.

She has served in many leadership roles with Wiregrass United Way, including as the campaign chair for Geneva County. During the COVID-19 pandemic, Dixon organized a 30-mile walk across Geneva County that raised more than $5,000 for the United Way. In addition, she coaches youth recreation sports with the city of Geneva.

“I feel incredibly blessed to work for an organization whose mission is centered on serving others, and I’m thankful for the opportunity to contribute to the continued success of both our cooperative and the Wiregrass community,” Dixon says.
