Wiregrass Electric Cooperative accepting applications for Operation Round Up scholarships

Professional goals often require some post-high school education. Wiregrass Electric Cooperative (WEC) wants to help members achieve those goals through Operation Round Up (ORU) Charitable Foundation scholarships!

Pay for books. Sign up for a summer class. Cover lab fees or other associated educational expenses. These scholarships can support your aspirations in many ways.

Three Types of Scholarships Available

Traditional Student Scholarships

These are awarded to high school seniors who plan to attend an accredited two-year, four-year, vocational, technical, or other continuing education institution in Alabama.

Nontraditional Student Scholarships

This type of scholarship is for students who meet at least one of these criteria: They have delayed enrollment into postsecondary education, are financially independent for financial aid purposes, have dependents other than a spouse, or are single parents. Students must plan to attend an accredited institution in Alabama.

Wallace Community College Lineworker Program Scholarships

These scholarships are awarded to students who want to enroll in WCC’s pre-apprentice Electrical Lineworker program and have demonstrated a financial need.

In 2020 the ORU board awarded 22 scholarships, and it will be aiming to dole out a similar number in 2021. For more information or to apply, visit our Student & Lineworker Program Scholarships page. Applications must be received by April 9!
