Saying Goodbye to TByrd

After 26 years, our valued energy control operator, Tammie Byrd, embarks on a well-earned retirement.

Throughout her tenure, Tammie has been a linchpin in our operations, skillfully monitoring the grid’s performance and coordinating rapid responses during critical moments. An adept communicator, she has played a significant role in getting your power restored during unexpected outages and following major storms.

Earlier, the WEC family — current team members and a handful of retirees — gathered to share food, fellowship and well wishes. On Tammie’s last day of work, a special tribute unfolded: Our linemen and several other team members dialed her dispatch number, 440, via the two-way radio system to bid her a warm and personal farewell, a gesture reflecting Tammie’s importance not only to our operations but also to the people she assisted over the years.
