Giving back to our community —  helping youth achieve their goals

Commitment to community is one of the basic foundations on which Wiregrass Electric Cooperative stands. In our efforts to support students in our community who wish to continue their education, Wiregrass Electric sponsors a $1,000 educational scholarship to a high school senior.

The scholarship is awarded as part of the Electric Cooperative Foundation, Inc., which was created by the electric cooperatives of Alabama in 1997 to provide scholarships for qualifying high school seniors. The scholarships are for study at post-secondary or vocational/technical institutions.

To qualify, a student’s parent or legal guardian must be a member of Wiregrass Electric. The recipient is selected by an independent panel of judges. Applications are available from any Wiregrass Electric office, from area high school guidance counselors, or online.
