The annual Youth Tour program will have a different look in 2021 but will still create some amazing educational and character development opportunities for area high school juniors!
A local event
With the annual Montgomery and Washington, D.C. tours canceled in 2021, Wiregrass Electric Cooperative is proud to organize a local event that provides many of the same experiences as previous years’ events:
- Educational presentations: Delegates will still learn about the nation’s history and the role electric cooperatives have played in it.
- Learning from lawmakers: Local legislators like state Sen. Donnie Chesteen and state Reps. Jeff Sorrells and Paul Lee will discuss governmental operations with delegates and answer their questions.
- Leadership development: Participants will encounter team-building activities and learn leadership skills throughout the day.
- Networking: Attendees will come from a variety of schools, presenting chances to make new friends.
All events will take place at WEC’s headquarters in Hartford on April 12.
An investment in the future
In addition to these great experiences, all 10 delegates will reap a new benefit in 2021: a $1,500 scholarship courtesy of WEC!
Applications for the local Youth Tour are available below and at local WEC offices. Applicants must be high school juniors who are dependents of WEC members.
The deadline to apply is March 1.
