Youth Tour

Wiregrass Electric Cooperative (WEC) is proud to once again provide area high school juniors the opportunity to participate in the Montgomery and Washington, D.C. Youth Tour!

WEC will send 10 students to the Montgomery Youth Tour which will take place March 11 to 13, 2026.

Events include:

• Educational presentations: Delegates will learn about the nation’s history and the role electric cooperatives have played in it
• Learning from lawmakers: Local legislators will discuss governmental operations with delegates and answer their questions
• Leadership development: Participants will encounter team-building activities and learn leadership skills throughout the day
• Networking: Attendees will come from a variety of schools, presenting chances to make new friends

An Investment in the Future

In addition to these great experiences, all 10 delegates will reap another benefit in 2026: a $1,000 scholarship courtesy of WEC!

Of those 10 students that participate in the Montgomery Youth Tour, two students will be selected to participate in the Washington, D.C. Youth Tour that will be held in June 2026. Those two students will receive an additional $500 scholarship each. Selections for the two students that will participate in the Washington Youth Tour will be through an interview process that will take place shortly after the Montgomery Youth Tour.

Applications for the local Youth Tour are available below and at local WEC offices. Applicants must be high school juniors who are dependents of WEC members.

The deadline to apply is January 9.
