Media Partnerships

There are many people in the community deserving of recognition for their contributions. Our media partners help us find these individuals and honor them in meaningful ways. Our hope is telling their stories on various platforms will inspire audiences to achieve greatness through acts of service and goodwill.

Teacher of the Month

Wiregrass Electric Cooperative and 95.5 WTVY know the critical role teachers play in shaping future generations. Their efforts often go unnoticed, which is why WEC and 95.5 partnered to recognize one outstanding teacher each month for going above and beyond for their students.

Every month during the academic year, Wiregrass Electric and 95.5 WTVY-FM award a teacher making a difference in the Wiregrass area with Teacher of the Month! Winners are surprised in their classroom by “Your Country Morning Show with Jerome & Duke” and WEC with a $50 gift card to a local restaurant, a plaque, classroom supplies, a pizza party and more! They are also featured on WEC’s social media and on-air at 95.5 WTVY-FM.

Lineman of the Week

WEC partners with “The Ball” WOOF Radio to present local high school football player with a trophy honoring them as Lineman of the Week.

A standout offensive or defensive lineman is chosen by “The Ball” with input from Wiregrass coaches. The player is featured on our social media pages and during “The Ball,” a sports talk show on AM 560, every Friday morning during the season.

Silent Heroes of the Wiregrass

Wiregrass Electric established a partnership with WTVY for Silent Heroes of the Wiregrass, a program that provides a $1,000 grant and recognition to unsung local organizations and individuals who help our community.

WEC’s Operation Round Up Foundation’s governing board selects 12 award winners each year to receive the grants to help them to continue their good work. These winners are featured on WTVY and in Alabama Living magazine, Wiregrass Electric’s monthly publication.

The Silent Heroes program really shines a spotlight on what makes the Wiregrass such a great place to live, work and raise a family.
