2023 Christmas Card Art Contest

Wiregrass students spread colorful holiday cheer

In a year that’s seen its share of ups and downs, the Wiregrass community’s youngest artists bring a ray of sunshine — just in time for the holidays. Wiregrass Electric Cooperative is thrilled to unveil the winners of its 2023 Christmas Card Art Contest. Out of 518 incredible submissions, three talented K-5 students won special prizes.

1st – Lizzy Metcalf

Fourth grader at Webb Elementary School
Lizzy’s colorful design featuring Santa Claus in his traditional suit is the face of WEC’s annual Christmas card this year and graces the cover of this issue of Alabama Living, along with the apt message: “You shine bright with Wiregrass Electric!” Lizzy received 30 printed cards of her artwork to share with loved ones and a $50 gift certificate to Michaels craft supply store.

2nd – Stafforg Vogt

Third grader at Wicksburg Elementary Schooll
A light bulb-turned snow globe featuring the North Pole as the stem and Santa in his sleigh was a creative addition by Stafford, who received a $25 Michaels gift card for his imaginative and skillful concept.

3rd – Logan Wilson

Fifth grader at Rehobeth Elementary
A brilliantly lit Christmas tree surrounded by gifts really puts into perspective Wiregrass Electric’s role during the holidays, helping make this season merry and bright for all of our members and their families. Logan earned a $25 gift card for his festive submission.

In addition to our top three, each participating school chose a winner to award a $10 gift card. It’s safe to say that the holiday spirit is alive and well in the Wiregrass community.

Cheers to all participants and winners — you’ve made this season a little brighter for us all.
