Wiregrass Electric Cooperative congratulates Virginia Morris, a second-grader at New Brockton Elementary School, for winning the 2020 Christmas Card Art Contest. Morris’ drawing features a WEC lineman using a bucket truck to decorate a Christmas tree and includes the greeting “Merry Christmas from Wiregrass Electric Coop.”

“It’s always fun to look through all of the submitted artwork each year,” WEC Manager of Communications and Public Relations Jennifer Ward says. “Judges loved the bright colors Virginia used in her drawing as well as the detail she used in creating elements like the truck.”

For winning the contest, Morris received a $50 gift card to Michaels craft store. Her artwork is also featured on both the cover of December’s Alabama Living magazine and the WEC Christmas card.

Lyndsey Lee of Slocomb Elementary School earned second place with her depiction of a WEC truck hauling a Christmas tree, while Houston Academy’s Adeline Egbert earned third place for her drawing of Christmas lights, presents, and a snowman. Both received $25 gift cards to Michaels for their work.

“We appreciate all of the entries that area elementary students submitted this year,” Ward says. “We were pleased with the amount of entries we received this year, given the challenges of the pandemic. The artwork certainly brightened our offices.”
