A few cents a month shapes local communities
Wiregrass Electric Cooperative (WEC) is committed to improving the communities we serve, but we couldn’t do it without our members’ generosity.
Operation Round Up (ORU) represents a key component in how we benefit our region. From 2015 to 2020, ORU provided $162,500 in scholarships and almost $500,000 in grants. These grants supported everything from fire departments to local rural medical clinics to several school programs throughout our service territory.
These grants have also allowed WEC to respond to emergency needs like bolstering food pantries at the beginning of the coronavirus pandemic.
But we wouldn’t have the funds to do all this without you, our members. By voluntarily rounding up your monthly bills to the next dollar — a maximum cost of 99 cents per month — you make all of these grants and scholarships possible. ORU shows what the power of cooperative efforts can do!
