Operation Round Up Foundation
Throughout the year, WEC members generously volunteer to round up their monthly bills to the next dollar so the Operation Round Up Foundation can provide scholarships. Last year, ORU awarded 23 scholarships to Wiregrass area students.
Who Can Apply?
WEC members and their dependent children, including those under legal guardianship.
Traditional Students
College-bound high school seniors attending a public, private, or home school.
Nontraditional Students
Students planning to attend an accredited institution in Alabama who meet at least 1 of these criteria: have delayed enrollment into postsecondary education; are financially independent for financial aid purposes; have dependents other than a spouse; or are single parents.
Aspiring Lineworkers
Students who want to enroll in Wallace Community College’s Pre-Apprentice Electrical Lineworker program and demonstrate a financial need.
In addition to providing in-house scholarship opportunities, WEC sponsors a $1,000 educational scholarship to a high school senior administered through the Electric Cooperative Foundation.
Who Can Apply?
Applicants for this scholarship should be interested in pursuing a postsecondary or vocational education. To qualify for the scholarship, the applicant must be a dependent child of a member of a WEC. The application must be submitted directly to the Electric Cooperative Foundation.
The deadline to apply is February, 23.
